Rory’s Training Journey

Rory, a beautiful and gentle Golden Doodle, came to Liberty K9 with a unique set of challenges. Her owners noticed she was extremely nervous in new environments and hesitant around unfamiliar people. They wanted to help Rory build confidence and feel more comfortable in a variety of situations, so they enrolled her in our 8-Day Board and Train Program.

The Challenges

Golden Doodles are known for their friendly and social nature, but Rory struggled with anxiety, particularly when meeting new people or exploring unfamiliar places. Nervousness in dogs can sometimes lead to avoidant behaviors or stress, so it was crucial to create a structured, supportive environment for Rory to thrive.

The Training Process

During Rory’s 8-Day Board and Train, we focused on the following:

  • Confidence Building: Rory was gently exposed to new environments, ensuring each experience was positive and stress-free.
  • Socialization: We introduced Rory to various people in a controlled manner to help her realize that new faces aren’t scary.
  • Desensitization: By slowly increasing her exposure to different sounds, sights, and situations, we helped Rory feel more at ease in unfamiliar settings.
  • Obedience Training: Commands like “sit,” “stay,” and “place” were reinforced to provide Rory with predictable routines that boost her confidence.

The Results

By the end of her training, Rory showed remarkable progress. She was more comfortable exploring new environments and interacting with people she had never met before. Her owners now report that she is calmer, more confident, and happier in social settings. Rory's transformation demonstrates how tailored training can unlock a dog’s true potential.

Why Training Works for Golden Doodles

Golden Doodles are intelligent, eager-to-please dogs, but like Rory, they can sometimes be sensitive or nervous in unfamiliar situations. Proper training provides structure, builds confidence, and helps dogs like Rory overcome their fears, creating a more balanced and happy life.
